Grow Basics

Learn the real basics without bullshit. When to water. When to feed. How much light to run. This is the foundation that keeps beginners from drowning roots, burning plants, or blasting them with the wrong schedule.

What actually matters first?

Most beginner problems are not genetics. They are bad watering, feeding too early, or running the wrong light schedule.

A beginner does not need twenty bottles and a lab coat. You need the basics under control: watering rhythm, sensible feeding, and correct light timing.

Too much water chokes roots. Too much feed burns the plant. Too much light at the wrong stage wastes energy and creates stress.

This module is about keeping things simple and clean. Read the plant, not your ego.

When the basics are right, the plant grows with less drama and you make far fewer stupid mistakes.

I

Water by need

Do not water because the clock says so. Water when the medium has actually dried enough.

II

Feed lightly first

Young plants need less than people think. Start mild and only increase when the plant clearly wants more.

III

Light drives growth

Vegetative growth and flowering use different schedules. Get this wrong and the whole cycle gets messy.

IV

Simple beats chaotic

A stable basic setup grows better than an overcomplicated one managed badly.

What you need

Nothing fancy. Just the stuff that actually matters.

💧

Water

Clean water at a stable routine. Not constant drowning. Not random neglect.

🧪

Nutrients

Basic grow feed for veg and bloom feed for flowering. Start low, do not overfeed.

💡

Light

A stable light source with the right hours for each stage. Consistency matters more than hype.

🪴

Medium

Use a decent soil or grow medium that drains well and does not stay soaked forever.

👀

Observation

The plant tells you a lot if you stop guessing and actually pay attention.

Simple stage guide

Beginner-friendly baseline. Not a law of nature. A solid starting point.

Water & Feed

Keep the root zone healthy. Most beginners ruin plants here first.

Stage Water Feed
Seedling Small amounts, only when top layer starts drying Usually none or very light
Early Veg Water when pot feels light and medium is partly dry Light grow feed
Late Veg More volume, less often. Wet-dry rhythm matters Moderate grow feed
Early Flower Steady watering, avoid large swings Transition into bloom feed
Mid / Late Flower Consistent, not soaked, not bone dry Bloom-focused feed, watch for excess

Light Schedule

Keep it simple: veg runs long days, flower runs equal dark and light.

Stage Light Hours Focus
Seedling 18/6 Gentle start, not blasted too hard
Vegetative 18/6 Build roots, branches, structure
Flowering 12/12 Trigger and maintain flowering
Dark Period Must stay dark No light leaks during flower
Beginner Rule Be consistent Stop changing schedules randomly

Stage 01
Start small
Seedlings want stability, not aggressive feeding and not soaked soil.
Current focus Keep the root zone lightly moist, not soaked.
Why it matters Most early problems come from overdoing things too fast.
